Why Your Screen Door Keeps Jamming (And What I Learned After $3,800 Worth of Mistakes)

I thought it was just a dirty track

My first screen door replacement order in 2019 was a mess. I said, 'standard size, sliding screen door.' The customer heard 'I'll handle it myself.' Result: I delivered the wrong dimensions, they couldn't install it, and I ate the cost. That was the first $450 lesson.

Most homeowners and even some contractors assume a sticking screen door means:

  • Check the frame squareness – if the diagonal measurements differ by more than 1/4 inch, the door will bind. Fix the framing first.
