No, Not That Peacemaker

The company I work for is called Peacemaker, and we're in the building supply business. People confuse us with the show constantly. It's become a running joke. But the name actually fits what we do—we get called in when a door, a lock, or a pane of glass has to stop being a problem.

I sit on the emergency side of that work. In my role coordinating rush deliveries, I've processed over 200 urgent orders in the last seven years, and I've learned that "urgent" is where most of the real lessons live. The one that changed the most for me was a sliding door job in March 2024.

The Call: 2:47 PM, Thursday

A property manager named Dana was on the line. Her retail tenant was opening Saturday at 9:00 AM. The night before, someone had forced the storefront's sliding glass door. The intruder didn't get much—just a tablet and a wallet—but he got through the lock in under two minutes. The door was now a security risk. Saturday Morning
